"Silence is the best soundtrack. Minutiae makes me laugh. Is it storytelling or story-showing? Memorization leads to broadcasting. Honing. Forming bands and performing texts. Safety net or hammock? The audience is an inanimate object. Conglomeration facing speakers. Words may elicit mirth. It's like a recital. Long as I stick to the script."--Mike Daily, Paul Ash drums, Graham Payne bass, Whitney Woolf electronics. Recorded on November 23, 2009 at The Enginehouse. Portland, Oregon.
Matthew Simmons: "I should warn you that the book is in second person. Which means that it refers to a person doing things as you. It's not actually you. [Laughter.] None of this actually happened to you. As far as I know. It's just me. But, you know, it's fiction though, so it's not even me really. It's, uh...who knows who it is."

I write for readers and for listeners. The only meditation I practice is lyrics. Silence is the best soundtrack. Long as I stick to the script.
I'm trying to work on my rapport. Smile. Have fun onstage for a change. It doesn't always have to be so serious. Is it public address or spectacle? Keep it simple, tell the truth. Tell it simply, keep it true. True to what? Real life. Fictionalization inevitably becomes necessary. The old thin veil and stitching. Spruce it up as needed and prune it down for flow. Self-publishing isn't the bane it used to be. D.I.Y. Did it yourself? Do it again.
Notebooks are kept as coffers of sketches, snippets, perspectives. Fodder. Mechanical pencils require more clicks than mouses. I prefer lead to ink. It's easier to erase.
